A private pesticide applicator license is required for a person who uses or supervises the use of restricted use pesticides for the production of an agricultural commodity. Examples of agricultural commodities include row crops, sod, hay, cattle, citrus and vegetables.

To become a licensed private applicator, you must attend a mandatory training course, pass an exam with a score of 70 or higher and submit an application to Texas Department of Agriculture along with a $100 fee.
