Livestock JudgingÂ
In the 4-H Livestock Judging Project, youth learn to evaluate animals like cattle, sheep, swine, and goats based on industry standards. Participants rank animals, give oral reasons for their decisions, and build skills in critical thinking, communication, and decision-making. This hands-on project helps youth gain knowledge in animal science while developing confidence and leadership for future careers.
Hidalgo County 4-H is hosting live evaluation workshops with the support of adult leaders and community partners to prepare 4-H members for livestock judging contests for the 2025-2026 year.
