Andrea Valdez, Ph.D., MPH
Dr. Andrea Valdez has a Bachelor’s of Science degree in biology from the University of the Incarnate Word in San Antonio, a Master’s of Public Health degree from Texas A&M University School of Public Health in College Station and a Doctorate degree in Leadership Studies from Our Lady of the Lake University. The Family & Community Health portfolio of programs include the Dinner Tonight Healthy Cooking School, Cooking Well with Diabetes and the Stress Less with Mindfulness program. Dr. Valdez serves as the Hidalgo County 4-H Coordinator and leads the 4-H Food Show, the 4-H Photography contest, and other 4-H contests. Dr. Valdez serves as the County Administrator and is responsible for the relationship between AgriLife Extension and the Hidalgo County government and elected officials. She also coordinates the activities of the Leadership Advisory Board, provides training for Administrative Assistants, and provides interpretation of Hidalgo County Extension programs to stakeholders.
