State Scholarships for Graduating Seniors

The Texas 4-H Youth Development Program and the Texas 4-H Youth Development Foundation is once again pleased to offer to our senior high school 4-H members and current college students the opportunity to apply for an Opportunity Scholarship through the Texas 4-H Youth Development Foundation.  This year Texas 4-H members can apply for scholarships in three areas: baccalaureate, courageous heart, and technical. Former Texas 4-H members will be able to apply for scholarships through the collegiate scholarship program. Scholarship interviews will be conducted in College Station, May 5th-7th, 2017.

Texas 4-H Opportunity Scholarships
Deadline: Must be turned in to the Hidalgo County Extension office by 1/26/17
Eligibility Brief: Be an active and current 4-H member at least 2 of 3 previous years

Local Scholarships for Graduating Seniors

This list of scholarships is provided by the Hidalgo County Extension office as a service to our graduating 4-H’ers and their families. Eligibility varies for each scholarship, refer to each application for specifics.

The 4-H program has one of the strongest scholarship opportunities of any youth organization, but it does require a lot of work! The effort you put into applying for scholarships can make a big difference for you and your family as you look toward life after high school. Best of luck and work hard at this. Remember, you only graduate from high school once, so make the most of this time now!

STAR (South Texas Agricultural Roundup)
Deadline: 11/15/16
Eligibility Brief: Must have exhibited three years, including the current year

Hidalgo County 4-H Foundation
Deadline: Must be postmarked by 1/12/17
Eligibility Brief: Active in 4-H 3 of 4 high school years

Rio Grande Valley Livestock Show Champs for Champions Academic Scholarships
Deadline: Must be in the Livestock Show office by 1/23/17
Eligibility Brief: Exhibited in RGVLS within the prior 3 years

Algodon Club
Deadline: Must be postmarked by 3/7/17
Eligibility Brief: Plan to pursue a career in an agriculture-related field

Texas Farm Bureau: YF&R, Mitchell Memorial & District 13 Scholarships
Deadline: Must be postmarked by 3/20/17
Eligibility Brief: Family must be Farm Bureau members, other requirements vary, see details under each scholarship

Hidalgo County Farm Bureau Scholarships
Deadline: Must be turned in to the Hidalgo County Farm Bureau office by 5:00 p.m. 4/28/17
Eligibility Brief: Family must be Hidalgo County Farm Bureau members

Edinburg 4-H Foundation Scholarships
Deadline: Must be turned in to Hidalgo County Extension Office by 5/1/17
Eligibility Brief: Must be a member of an Edinburg area 4-H club or live in the Edinburg area
