State Scholarships for Graduating Seniors

The Texas 4-H Youth Development Program and the Texas 4-H Youth Development Foundation is once again pleased to offer to our senior high school 4-H members and current college students the opportunity to apply for an Opportunity Scholarship through the Texas 4-H Youth Development Foundation.  This year Texas 4-H members can apply for scholarships in three areas: baccalaureate, courageous heart, and technical. Former Texas 4-H members will be able to apply for scholarships through the collegiate scholarship program. Scholarship interviews will be conducted in College Station, May 5th-7th, 2017.

Local Scholarships for Graduating Seniors

This list of scholarships is provided by the Hidalgo County Extension office as a service to our graduating 4-H’ers and their families. Eligibility varies for each scholarship, refer to each application for specifics.

The 4-H program has one of the strongest scholarship opportunities of any youth organization, but it does require a lot of work! The effort you put into applying for scholarships can make a big difference for you and your family as you look toward life after high school. Best of luck and work hard at this. Remember, you only graduate from high school once, so make the most of this time now!

Scholarships are listed in chronological order of entry deadlines.
Dates below are for the Class of 2019

STAR (South Texas Agricultural Roundup)
Deadline: November 18, 2019
Eligibility Brief: To be eligible to apply for the STAR Scholarship, the applicant must…
1. Be a current Hidalgo County 4-H or FFA member.
2. Have been a member of 4-H or FFA as reflected below for two of the past four years including the current year.
3. Attend public school, private school, or be home-schooled in Hidalgo County.
4. Be a graduating senior.
5. Be a current resident of Hidalgo County.
6. Must exhibit their project at STAR as follows:
1. Submit entries by STAR deadline and bring project to the show for exhibition in 2020 show.
2. Sifted projects meet the exhibition requirements of this application.
3. Must have exhibited three years, including the 2020 show.

Scholarship Requirements 2020

Deadline: Must be postmarked by 1/12/17
Eligibility Brief: Active in 4-H 3 of 4 high school years

Rio Grande Valley Livestock Show Champs for Champions Academic Scholarships
Deadline: Complete Applications must be in the Rio Grande Valley Livestock Show Office by 5:00 p.m. on or before Friday, January 10, 2020. NO APPLICATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED AFTER THIS TIME/DATE. Applications may be mailed or hand delivered to the Rio Grande Valley Livestock Show at 1000 North Texas Avenue, Mercedes, Texas
Eligibility Brief: Must have exhibited in the Rio Grande Valley Livestock Show in at least two (2) of the past three (3) years.

Edinburg 4-H Foundation Scholarships
Deadline: Must be turned in to Hidalgo County Extension Office by 5/1/19
Eligibility Brief: Must be a member of an Edinburg area 4-H club or live in the Edinburg area
